Americas - Acerola

Acerola is a shrub that grows naturally in the forests of South America. It produces a wild cherry that was a precious source of food eaten by the Native Americans to treat digestive problems. It was later that sailors embarking on long journeys drank Acerola juice to prevent scurvy.

Acerola fruit extract is used in cosmetics to help visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots. The extract from Acerola seeds helps promote skin oxygenation.

Acerola has been the subject of scientific research since the 1950s, when it was discovered to have an incredibly high vitamin C content, making it an ideal food supplement for treating fatigue or winter illnesses.
