The mastic shrub produces a very aromatic resin known as mastic, or “gum.” Since ancient times, this Mediterranean shrub has been prized for its resin, which forms in droplets on the surface of the trunk and large branches. The mastic used by The Clarins Laboratories comes from Chios, an island in the Aegean Sea, known for the high quality production of this ingredient.
