Locks in moisture

Salicornia can be found all along the shorelines of Europe, and every year it produces cylindrical branches that resemble a type of ragged cactus. Beneath its exterior, the plant has developed a remarkable biological organization. It is halophilic ("salt-loving") and able to survive harsh coastal conditions. It also resists tidal flows by regulating the water level within its cells. Used as a food for its high content of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, Salicornia also produces an oil that is ideal for use in moisturizers.

Beauty benefits

In cosmetics, Salicornia extract helps retain water deep within the skin’s surface to boost the skin’s hydration. The Salicornia extract used by the Clarins Laboratories is organic.
